A Change of Scenery.

While we were down on the coast we had a few outings with  our daughter and the grand children.
On Boxing Day Hubby,Myself, our son and our youngest daughter and two of our grand children  drove to the Minamurra Rainforest in the Budderoo National Park near Jamberoo.
It is only a short loop circuit walk(pram friendly) of about 1.5 klms but it was  lovely.
There is the added option of a longer 4 klm walk up to the falls but as we had the children we chose to only do the shorter walk.
This lovely fellow was on the wall at the entry to the walkway.
We headed off ,
The scenery changed immediately, I just adored the birds nest ferns high up in the trees.
There were lovely wooden  suspension bridges over  beautiful  babbling  streams  littered with pebbles, rocks and boulders.
The walkway wound around on itself  and climbed quickly.
After we completed this short  beautiful walk we decided to sit and have lunch that we purchased at the cafe located near the entrance .
We had a lovely morning , it's a really pretty spot that appeared to be extremely popular with a lot of people.
The next day we decided to head to The Tree Top Walk at Nights Hill near Robertson.
The first part of this walk is along a painted serpent footpath which then  progresses into the trees .
Along the pathways  there were a collection of little fairy houses that had been constructed   at various locations. The children were given a pen and paper  and each fairy house had a corresponding  alphabet letter to write down. On  completion of the walk they had to  unscramble the letters and  find the correct answer to win a prize.
The Grand kids just loved the fairy houses, racing to each  one to check it out,I think this was a very clever Idea by the operators, we loved them.
The first activity we came to was an amazing zip line experience through the trees  called "The Illawarra Fly".
The Tree Top Walk  is a series of 500 metres  of steel constructed walkways  approximately 20 to 30 metres  above the forest floor nestled into the tree canopy.
It is at a height of 750 metres above sea level.
Now I am afraid of heights and also have an issue with height/movement so I set off on this expedition with great trepidation.
The views down into the forest floor were  gorgeous.
I started to relax a little and then was really enjoying it,  and then we came to the tower.....
There was no way that I could attempt to scale that spiral  giant.

Brian went up with the children all the way to the top. I stayed at the tower base with our daughter who also didn't want to  climb the tower.
Brian took up my camera and took a few pictures for me.
Brian said the views were just stunning, and I love the photos he took.
I love this place, and now that I finally gained some confidence I would love to go back  and  do it again some time, or maybe one of the other tree top walks located around the country.
It was a great couple of days, we had a wonderful  time with our daughter and the grand children and saw some beautiful sights. These are certainly two attractions that  you shouldn't miss if you are in the Wollongong area.
We are now back home and battling the heat and dry, we are back to our normal routines again.
So Until we meet again  down the road,
Take care,
Cheers,
Jane and Brian.
